In Darcel's own words

NEGRIL SANDS

We healed through gentle kisses
wrapped in tender tropical breezes.
In between sips of Pina Coloda my sugar waltz flooded a pool all over
my private property
Oh how I wanted him to just dive in and swim deep up into the abyss of
my heart...instead
we went back to the beach house and fell asleep holding each other.

I covered Jamie with the sheet and walked to the beach...Soon the sun
became one with the stars in the sky Earth's music began with the beauty of the ocean waves clashing and
relaxing on the shore over & over & over again...
The seagulls used their voices to communicate with the universe mixed
with a chorus of crickets. I touched the water with my toes and
inched myself in until my knees were hiding inside...Curious, tiny
colorful fish swam around my legs...

11 YEAR-OLD-GIRL'S DISCOVERY

It wasn't long before I began to see that God's extension wasn't only
in a church or on a pictured frame or on a cross or in a Bible. I
found that God was everywhere! In, out, up, down, over, under and around everything! I saw bits and pieces of goodness of God in
everyone. Even in me! Nawnie told me the more I am good, the more
God will shine through me. Sometimes I see God's design in someone's beautiful eyes, a beautiful
voice, a personality or even hidden beauty like that sister in The
Carolina Choir at Karron Baptist Church. I don't think Heaven resides
only in the skies but Heaven is in humble, peaceful and beautiful
places and hell is in painful, confused and ugly things. Confusion is
the darkness of hell. I think some church people are confused when
they say things like, "I'm getting dressed up for the Lord!" I look
at them like they're crazy. God was there helping you purchase those
clothes on your back, lady...
Maybe their God might be impressed with their gear or their pretty
Sunday hat. But I believe our God's concern lies within the content
of our heart. The lightness, the innocence, its purity.
